ABS EH36 is a high-tensile steel plate for shipbuilding that has improved strength and resistance to impact. It is composed of silicon (≤0.35%), manganese (≤1.60%), carbon (≤0.18%), and trace amounts of sulphur and phosphorus. For increased corrosion resistance, other elements like copper, nickel, and chromium may be added. ABS EH36 has a tensile strength of 490–620 MPa and a minimum yield strength of 355 MPa. Because of its exceptional formability, weldability, and toughness—particularly at low temperatures (-40°C)—it can be used to fabricate crucial load-bearing structures in maritime environments.
