The AR 500 Sheet and Plate is composed of high-carbon steel that has been alloyed with 0.30% carbon and alloying elements such as nickel, chromium, and manganese to increase its strength and hardness. It provides a Brinell Hardness Number (BHN) in the range of 470 to 540. With a tensile strength between 1380 and 1900 MPa, it provides excellent wear and impact resistance. AR 500 is best suited for parts needing exceptional toughness and wear resistance under demanding working conditions, but despite its extreme hardness, it has limited formability and weldability.
