Carbon content is usually less than 0.19%. Grades have outstanding mechanical properties such as a minimum yield strength of 345 MPa (50 ksi) and tensile strength of 485 MPa (70 ksi). With better weldability and formability, the steel develops a protective rust coating upon exposure to atmospheric conditions, which greatly prolongs its life without requiring paint or coating.
