About 69% nickel and 28–30% molybdenum make up Hastelloy B2, with trace amounts of iron, cobalt, and other elements. It provides outstanding defence against phosphoric, sulphuric, acetic, and hydrochloric acids. In addition to having good ductility and toughness, the alloy has a tensile strength of about 760 MPa and a yield strength of about 310 MPa. In reducing environments, hastelloy B2 is resistant to stress corrosion, cracking, and pitting. It has uniform corrosion resistance, enhanced thermal stability, and is simple to form, weld, and fabricate.
