Hastelloy C276’s composition and mechanical characteristics include approximately 57% Ni, 15.5% Mo, 16% Cr, 5% Fe, and trace amounts of W and Co. It provides exceptional resistance to cracking, pitting, stress corrosion, and crevice corrosion. Mechanical characteristics include a yield strength of 355 MPa and a tensile strength of roughly 790 MPa. Strong oxidisers, reducing agents, and mixed-acid environments do not affect the alloy’s ability to resist corrosion. It is appropriate for demanding process applications due to its exceptional weldability and ability to retain strength and integrity at high temperatures.
