Kovar foil is a high performance alloy consisting mainly of iron, nickel (29%) and cobalt (17%). It is known for its low-temperature expansion, corresponding to that of borosilicate crystals. The alloy offers excellent strength, ductility and excellent resistance to thermal cycling. Its mechanical properties include high tensile strength (up to 550 MPa) and yield strength (up to 350 MPa). Kovar foil also offers excellent resistance to high temperature oxidation, making it ideal for use in electronics, hermetic seals, and aerospace applications that require stability and durability.
