The typical composition of Monel 400, a nickel-copper alloy, is 63% nickel and 30–34% copper, with trace amounts of silicon, carbon, manganese, and iron. It provides exceptional corrosion resistance, particularly in acidic and salty environments. In addition to having good thermal conductivity and toughness over a broad temperature range, Monel 400 coils have tensile strengths of 480–620 MPa, yield strengths of about 170 MPa, and elongation of up to 35%.
