The austenitic chromium-nickel alloy stainless steel 305 is distinguished by its low work-hardening rate and high nickel content (roughly 12%). Its chemical makeup, which includes about 18% chromium, 12% nickel, and a low carbon content (maximum 0.12%), improves its formability and resistance to corrosion. Mechanical characteristics include a 40% elongation, a yield strength of 241 MPa, and a tensile strength of roughly 586 MPa. This alloy is perfect for deep drawing, stamping, and forming processes where high corrosion resistance is also necessary because it retains good strength and ductility.
