Stainless Steel 316 is an austenitic chromium-nickel-molybdenum alloy with about 16–18% Chromium, 10–14% Nickel, and 2–3% Molybdenum. It has superior corrosion resistance against chlorides, seawater, and acidic chemicals. It possesses a tensile strength of about 515–690 MPa and superior mechanical properties at both low and elevated temperatures. SS 316 is non-magnetic in the annealed condition and has good creep, stress-to-rupture, and tensile strength at high temperatures.
