Stainless Steel 317 Channel is an austenitic stainless steel of high alloy with improved corrosion resistance owing to higher molybdenum content. Its chemical composition is Chromium (18–20%), Nickel (11–15%), Molybdenum (3–4%), Carbon (≤0.08%), Manganese (≤2%), Silicon (≤1%), and balance Iron. This alloy provides good resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and chemical attack under acidic and chloride-containing environments. It contains a tensile strength of approximately 515 MPa, yield strength of 205 MPa, and elongation of 40%. SS 317 also provides a good weldability, formability, and high-temperature strength, thus finding its application in heavy-duty and corrosion-susceptible structural use.
