Stainless Steel 317L is an austenitic, low-carbon, high-molybdenum steel that contains roughly 18–20% chromium, 11–15% nickel, and 3–4% molybdenum. After welding, the low carbon content improves resistance to intergranular corrosion. It offers outstanding resistance to environments that are acidic and chloride-rich. The alloy’s elongation is approximately 35–40%, its yield strength is 205 MPa, and its tensile strength is approximately 515 MPa. It is perfect for harsh chemical environments because of its austenitic structure, which guarantees good ductility and weldability, and its high molybdenum content, which enhances resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion.
