Stainless Steel 405 is a ferritic stainless steel with 11.5–14.5% Chromium and negligible carbon content, with some aluminum added for enhanced oxidation resistance and to avoid hardening upon welding. It possesses satisfactory corrosion resistance, particularly in oxidizing conditions, and improved machinability. Its mechanical properties are a minimum tensile strength of approximately 450 MPa, yield strength of 205 MPa, and elongation of about 20%.
