A non-hardening, low-carbon variant of type 410 stainless steel, stainless steel 410S has a chromium content of 11.5–13.5%, a carbon content of ≤0.08%, and trace amounts of silicon, manganese, phosphorus, and sulphur. At higher temperatures, it provides good oxidation resistance and moderate corrosion resistance. The mechanical characteristics include a minimum elongation of 20%, a yield strength of approximately 205 MPa, and a tensile strength of approximately 415 MPa. Compared to regular SS 410, SS 410S has better weldability and a lower chance of hardening or cracking after heat exposure because of its stabilised structure.
