Stainless Steel 418 or UNS S41800 or 12% Cr molybdenum and nickel bearing steel is a martensitic stainless steel that possesses a good combination of corrosion resistance, strength, and hardenability. It has 12% Chromium, 1.5–2.5% Nickel, 0.5–1% Molybdenum, and a carbon content of 0.15–0.30%. SS 418 exhibits high tensile strength of up to 950 MPa with excellent toughness following heat treatment. It is ferromagnetic in nature and retains its strength up to high temperatures, finding application in high-performance mechanical and structural components.
