Stainless Steel 422 is a 12% Chromium martensitic stainless steel alloy with 1% Molybdenum and 0.2–0.3% Carbon, with Tungsten and Vanadium additions to provide higher strength at high temperatures. It exhibits high tensile strength (up to 1035 MPa), favorable creep and fatigue properties, and superior oxidation resistance up to 1200°F (650°C).
