Stainless Steel 436 is a molybdenum-stabilized columbium (niobium) stabilized ferritic stainless steel with around 16–18% Chromium and 0.75–1.25% Molybdenum. It has improved corrosion and oxidation resistance over SS 430, particularly in high-heat exposure applications. The material has good thermal fatigue behavior, formability, and moderate mechanical properties with tensile strength in the range of 415–450 MPa. SS 436 also possesses the same magnetic properties and resists stress corrosion cracking in mildly aggressive surroundings.
