Stainless Steel 439 is a titanium-stabilized ferritic stainless steel with about 17–19% Chromium and negligible carbon content. It provides better corrosion resistance than SS 409 and high resistance to intergranular corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. SS 439 has tensile strength of about 415–450 MPa and is non-hardenable through heat treatment. It maintains its magnetic condition and provides good formability and hence is suitable for applications involving shaping, forming, and welding.
