Stainless Steel 440C Sheets and Plates typically contain 16–18% chromium, 0.95–1.2% carbon, and small amounts of manganese, silicon, and molybdenum. As a high-carbon martensitic stainless steel, 440C offers outstanding hardness and wear resistance when heat-treated. Its tensile strength can reach up to 760–980 MPa, and it offers a yield strength around 450 MPa, with excellent edge retention and moderate corrosion resistance in hardened conditions. Though less corrosion-resistant than austenitic grades, it performs well in mild environments. It can be hardened through heat treatment, making it ideal for highly stressed, wear-prone components.
