Stainless Steel 455 is a martensitic, age-hardenable alloy consisting of around 11–12.5% Chromium, 7.5–9.5% Nickel, 1.5–2.5% Copper, and trace quantities of Titanium and Molybdenum. It provides high hardness and strength following heat treatment, with good corrosion resistance in mild environments and industrial atmospheres. SS 455 provides tensile strength of up to 1400 MPa and yield strength of more than 1000 MPa upon aging. It further offers good ductility and fracture resistance, hence for components that have to resist high stress, fatigue, and corrosive environments.
