Stainless Steel 904L (UNS N08904) is a non-stabilized austenitic stainless steel having low carbon and high alloy material composition, including 19–23% Chromium, 23–28% Nickel, 4–5% Molybdenum, and 1–2% Copper. It shows excellent resistance to severe reducing acids, stress corrosion cracking, and pitting in chlorides. The mechanical properties are tensile strength of 490 MPa (min), yield strength of 220 MPa (min), and elongation of 35%. The alloy has strength and toughness at high and low temperatures, so it is suitable for severe operating conditions.
