Molybdenum (1.8–2.5%) is added to stainless steel EN 1.4513, a ferritic stainless steel with roughly 17–18% chromium, to increase corrosion resistance. Because of its low carbon content, it is easier to weld and less likely to experience intergranular corrosion. This alloy has good resistance to scaling at high temperatures, moderate ductility, and a tensile strength of about 450–600 MPa and a yield strength of about 250–300 MPa. EN 1.4513 is appropriate for applications involving thermal cycling and moderately corrosive environments because it retains its magnetic qualities, good oxidation resistance, and moderate formability.
