About 90% titanium, 6% aluminium, and 4% vanadium make up titanium grade 5, or Ti-6Al-4V. This alloy has a high melting point (~1660°C), good fatigue resistance, and exceptional tensile strength (up to 1000 MPa). In environments with chloride and saltwater, it continues to exhibit exceptional corrosion resistance. The alloy has good weldability, moderate formability, and high mechanical strength combined with lightweight characteristics. With a density of 4.43 g/cm³ and a hardness of about 36 HRC, it is extensively utilised in industries that demand excellent mechanical and chemical performance in harsh environments.
